Pecha Kucha Barcelona celebrated its first night
Hello Visitor,
Thank you to everyone who came, presented or helped out at the first Pecha Kucha Night in Barcelona. Some 500 people turned up last friday, July 11th, at the Fòrum to see 12 20x20 presentations, while some had to stay outside as the space was too full to let everyone in (sorry about that!).
The night started at 20:20 with a video message the founders of PKN (Astrid Klein + Mark Dytham) send from Tokyo to welcome Barcelona as a PKN city.
The first speaker was Petz Scholtus, the organiser of Pecha Kucha Barcelona, who explained what Pecha Kucha is all about, followed by eco-entrepreneur Oriol Pascual who shared his personal journey with us. Next up was Monica Potvin, a designer who presented her architectural project 'Luxury Jungle'. After her, Eugeni Castejón from the company Compostadores.com explained how he turns threats into opportunities.
Concept designer Nadine Meisel showed some great projects she labelled 'Realitivity', followed by Christian Wiedersheimi's psychotropic presentation called 'Lisboa and the mechanical flores'. Max Porta shared his experience at the Lost & Found markets where 'first necessity useless objects are being sold and swapped'.
After that, designer Mette Bak Andersen showed us how 'it is all about water', and photographer Txema Salvans, who dies if he can't take photos, took us on a journey to other people's holidays. Curro Claret, industrial designer, did a great presentation of 10 'Rejected Projects' and after him, René Lönngren, founder of LECOOL PUBLISHING, told us 20 'Things he has learned'. Last but not least was Jason Lee, writer/design/consultant with 'Stories from my mum’s childhood. And me.'.
