Pecha Kucha and RootSpace
Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Design for Sustainable Development In collaboration with RootSpace and Global Entrepreneurship Week in Lebanon, Pecha Kucha proposes a special edition of its event to be held on Thursday, November 20, in Beirut. Considering the purpose of the GEW worldwide and here in Lebanon as an effort to promote and celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation as powerful forces for economic, social, cultural and environmental development, Pecha Kucha is seeking candidates interested in presenting their work or projects which address some of the most critical and fundamental needs in Lebanon in all disciplines, in a creative, innovative, and/or entrepreneurial way. In this round of Pecha Kucha, the doors are wide open! Presentations should focus on any critical challenge facing Lebanon, such as sustainable energy, water resources, urban planning and land use, poverty and economic empowerment, connectivity/digital divide, feminism, sectarianism and social divisions, consumerism, etc. If you would like to participate in this special edition of Pecha Kucha, please send us 5 images and 200 words describing your presentation by Friday, November 14. http://www.therootspace.org/gew http://www.pecha-kucha.org/cities/beirut

Pecha Kucha Night Beirut Volume 1 was pretty cool – we hope you made it.
Some called it ‘the biggest informal brainstorming gathering in the country’ (Diadiwan), others considered it ‘something meaningful for Beirut to bring people together in a positive way’ (Astrid Klein- founder of pk), while some were interested for it as a ‘manifestation qui constitue un vivier où l’on peut dénicher les talents cachés’ (L’orient le jour). We are now organizing Pecha Kucha Night Volume 2. We are already receiving emails from presenters; but if you are interested in taking that plunge, let us know. PKN Beirut Volume 2 is going to be held in August 2008. If you wish to present your ideas, send us 200 words, 5 images, your name and occupation at: pechakucha.beirut@gmail.com
