Upcoming Winter Event

← All Asheville newsletters 2009-12-17 07:20:03
It is time to begin planning for the Winter Pecha Kucha Asheville event. For all those who are interested in presenting or would like to encourage others to present their design insight, we are at a great point to begin assembling our presentations. Remember, it is only a 6min40sec presentation and the presentations will hopefully encompass a wide range of dialogue. As we found in the debut presentations, the diatribe does not have to be verbal and the material does not have to be erudite. The presentations can be filled with silence or music and can be academic or poetic, serious or farciscal. However, the focus still remains very simple and direct: creative people sharing creative thoughts through imagery. In the debut, we saw presentations on a range of topics including urban design patterns and concepts, woodworking designs, vehicular design, residential architecture, and internet inspired poetry. The range and attitude of the presentations demonstrated how Pecha Kucha can be an event which is easy to contribute to and an inclusive atmosphere dedicated to promoting design interests.

With that said, please begin ruminating on your presentation ideas and help promot the event by spreading the word about Pecha Kucha Asheville. The next event should be in late January/ early February. Please encourage your friends to visit the website http://www.pecha-kucha.org/night/asheville and to signup for the newsletter. Anyone interested in assisting in the promotion of the event through labor, money, or donations should feel free to contact John Dean (johnkdean@hotmail.com) as soon as possible. All interested parties are welcomed, any participation is appreciated, and all design genres are encouraged to join us in broadening our appreciation for design.

Spread the word!
