Pecha Kucha Event #10 Celebrates Local Art, Food, Music, and Film
COLUMBUS (August 3, 2009) — Pecha Kucha Columbus will host its tenth event on August 14 outside of Junctionview Studios. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and Pecha Kucha will start at 9:00 p.m.
Each Pecha Kucha presenter will show 20 slides and speak about each slide for 20 seconds. Presenters include architect Sonia Bazan, illustrator John Lara, doll sculptor Sharon Bell, CSCA (Columbus Society of Communicating Arts) Co-President Paul Davis, motorcycle engine builder Aniket Vardhan, CD101 representative Tim Hall, Pattycake Vegan Bakery owner Jennie Scheinbach, wood artist Devon Palmer, local food activist Jill Moorhead, OhioHealth physician Dr. Randy Sharma, OSU women’s health expert Meagan Matteson, ceramist Cynthia Vardhan, live theater enthusiast Brant Jones, and writer Jory Farr. Music accompanying the event will be provided by Scott Vayo of BPM Productions.
Pecha Kucha will be held in conjunction with the food-themed Yummy! art exhibit at Junctionview’s Matchbox Gallery. Curated by Amy Neiwirth, it features works by more than 40 local artists (several of whom are presenting at Pecha Kucha) and is a fundraiser for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank; attendees can bring nonperishable food items or make donations. Local musicians will perform at 7:00 p.m., local food vendors Rad Dogveg and Pattycake Vegan Bakery will sell refreshments throughout the evening, and local filmmaker Matt Meindl will screen his Super 8 comedy short “T-shirt of Me” after the Pecha Kucha event.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. If it rains, the event will be held inside of Junctionview. The suggested donation is two dollars per person. Junctionview is located at 889 Williams Avenue in Grandview.
