FEMMES FATALES
an annual Los Angeles Forum for Architecture
and Urban Design special Pecha Kucha event,
celebrates the vibrant and talented women
designers and artists in the Los Angeles area. From the
emergence of feminism in the 1960s, to its arrival
in architectural theory in the 1990s and the 2004
awarding of the Pritzker Prize to Zaha Hadid,
women’s influence on the public sphere continues to
grow in breadth and in depth. Rather than creating
a marginal space to articulate the female voice,
the Femmes Fatales Pecha Kucha
series celebrates the plentitude and variety of
female designers who have articulated themselves
in a range of diverse practices—from
the quotidian to the incredibly monumental.
